Wastewater Treatment Operator
The Village of Hampshire (2003 population: 3815; current estimate: 5000 +/-) seeks a skilled and energetic individual to be a part of its wastewater treatment division within the Public Works Department. The Village of Hampshire is a rapidly growing community located in northwest suburban Chicago, bordering Interstate 90. The Wastewater Treatment Operator is a full-time position that will report to the Public Works Superintendent. Duties include: General overall maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility. Operates, maintains and makes adjustments to a variety of pumps, blowers, compressors, conveyors, sludge controls, air diffusers, filters, chemical equipment, valves and other mechanical and electrical equipment; takes samples of sewage at various states; cleans exchanges, dissolved air flotation units and chemical solution tanks, unloads chemicals; assists in repair of mechanical equipment; takes readings of recording units; operates electrical controls as needed; responsible for good housekeeping in work area; keeps records and makes reports; reviews and checks semi-skilled work performed. Also performs snow plowing, snow removal and salting work. Must be available for 24 hour emergency response, work as team member, and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. One to three years related experience and/or training in the operation of maintenance of the water/wastewater division. Class III Wastewater operator’s license or better preferred. Those with a water license also considered. Also, State of Illinois Class “B” Driver’s License preferred.

Starting salary commensurate with experience plus an excellent benefit package. A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required. EOE.
