Police Department
Emergency: Dial 911 The Hampshire Police Department, as well as all municipal police agencies within the State of Illinois, is charged with the responsibility of enforcement of Illinois law and local ordnances. To "Serve and Protect" has been the mission statement for may departments and has conveyed a message most citizens understand. While Hampshire Police also maintain a similar philosophy we have expanded our mission statement to include "Community Responsiveness". Our goal is to respond to the needs of the community, which are unique to Hampshire. Neighborhood Watch, Bicycle Patrol, and D.A.R.E. are current programs which provide direct involvement with citizens and the police. Future programs will include the addition of our K-9 unit, School Resource Officer (to be assigned to the schools on a full-time basis), and a Citizens Academy to provide residents with a better understanding of overall police responsibilities. Although the police have a duty to enforce the law we also have the responsibility to reduce crime and that cannot occur without the direct involvement of the community. Contact Information Thomas F.
