About
The Hampshire Police Department is charged with the responsibility of enforcement of Illinois law and local ordinances and operates 24/7/365 in the Village.
To "Serve and Protect" has been the mission statement for many departments and has conveyed a message most citizens understand. While Hampshire Police also maintain a similar philosophy we have expanded our mission statement to include "Community Responsiveness." Although the police have a duty to enforce the law, we also have the responsibility to reduce crime, and that cannot occur without the direct involvement of the community.
