About
The Hampshire Police Department, as well as all municipal police agencies within the State of Illinois, is charged with the responsibility of enforcement of Illinois law and local ordinances.
To "Serve and Protect" has been the mission statement for many departments and has conveyed a message most citizens understand. While Hampshire Police also maintain a similar philosophy we have expanded our mission statement to include "Community Responsiveness".
Although the police have a duty to enforce the law, we also have the responsibility to reduce crime, and that cannot occur without the direct involvement of the community.
